UPDATE: Essex County Prosecutor Shares Info on Montclair Police Officer Struck during Car Pursuit

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office released an update to yesterday's police chase and the Montclair police officer hit by the supspects' vehicle.

Here is the full report as of today:

"The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, a Montclair police officer stopped a vehicle for various motor violations.

During the course of the stop, it was learned that the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen. The suspect vehicle fled. While fleeing, the driver struck a Montclair police officer.

Montclair police engaged the suspect vehicle which traveled into Newark.

The incident ended in the area of North 6th Street when the suspect vehicle struck a parked car owned by a civilian."

A Montclair police officer has been struck by a vehicle during a car chase this morning.

As of now, there  is no name or condtion of the injured police officer shared with the press. Montclair Police just released this. beif statement

"We can only confirm that a Montclair police officer was struck by a vehicle and is being treated at an area hospital.  Two suspects are in custody at this time after the ensuing motor vehicle pursuit.  The Essex County Prosecutors Office is handling the investigation.  As such, please direct all questions to that agency. "
